The Town of Longmeadow has completed an update of it's Open Space and Recreation Plan. The Town's Open Space and Recreation Plan Update Committee conducted a comprehensive public process in 2019-2020 to develop town goals, objectives, and action items for open space and recreation for the next seven years, when the plan will be in effect. Members of the public were invited to participate in the planning process through a public survey and public visioning session in the spring of 2020. The visioning session included a review of the purpose and content of open space and recreation plans, review of initial survey findings, and a mapping and prioritization exercise to identify the community’s top goals and objectives for implementation.

Adopting an updated OSRP maintains the town's eligibility for numerous state, federal, and private foundation grant opportunities for park and conservation projects. 

The plan update was developed by the Longmeadow Open Space and Recreation Plan Update Committee with assistance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission.
