Public Meeting for City of Springfield Resiliency Planning

Thursday, February 5, 2015 - 5:00pm

The City of Springfield and PVPC have partnered together to apply for the HUD National Resiliency Disaster Competition that has the possibility of bringing grant funds in an amount ranging from $500,000 to $500 Million to Springfield.

The City is working to develop a resiliency plan to be submitted to HUD as part of the competition and the public is invited to attend this meeting to give their input on ways the City of Springfield can be more resilient in the event of future disasters. This will include how to make neighborhoods, schools, public infrastructure, housing and businesses more resilient to future disasters.

“We are excited for the opportunity to apply for additional Disaster Recovery and Resiliency funding from HUD and the public’s input in ways to make Springfield better positioned to handle future natural disasters is a critical part of the planning process” said Mayor Domenic Sarno.
