Berkshires Region Forum: Massachusetts Food System Plan

Tuesday, February 24, 2015 - 3:00pm

The Massachusetts Food Policy Council is developing the first statewide food system plan since 1974. And Berkshire County has a lot to contribute! From Keep Berkshires Farming, to Berkshire Grown and agricultural planning by the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, this region has come up with many important recommendations that should be considered for the statewide food system plan.
The new plan will cover many topics, including:
·    Increasing jobs and sales in food production and processing
·    Reducing hunger and food insecurity, and improving access to healthy foods
·    Reducing food waste and improving energy efficiency
·    Improving state-level regulations and policies

This meeting will have several break-out group discussions—so all will have a chance to contribute. So come prepared!

Who Should Attend? Food consumers, farmers, retailers, processing businesses, hunger relief and food pantry works—and anyone who eats!
Light snacks and beverages will be provided.
