2021 Bay State Bike Month

31 Aug 2021

Bicyclists are gearing up for Bay State Bike Month.  Throughout September local organization and advocates have organized activities to encourage people to get out and explore everything that bicycling has to offer in the Pioneer Valley; including bicycling for fun and fitness, rides to work, to school and for short trips in their communities. Bay State Bike Month is a collaborative effort of the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, MassBike, and local community volunteers and civic organizations. Check out the Bay State Bike Week’s full calendar of events online at Baystatebikemonth.org.

Many people who ride their bikes during Bike Month discover how great it feels, how relatively easy it is, and how convenient it can be to make bicycling part of a daily routine. The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission supports cycling as part of its efforts to improve air quality and to promote smart growth. When more people bike, it means fewer cars on the road. Fewer cars mean less congestion and less air pollution.

Bay State Bike Month signature event is the MassCommute Bicycle Challenge (MCBC), September 19th-26th. For details on events or to register for the challenge and lots of great information about bike commuting, check out the MassCommute Bicycle Challenge web site.
