Ware Domestic Violence Task Force Collaborates with Baystate Mary Lane Hospital

06 Jan 2015

In December 2014, the Ware Domestic Violence Task Force joined with Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in Ware to train all nurses in domestic violence screening and supportive referrals.  The Task Force and BMLH have been collaborating for a year to review and improve emergency room screening for domestic violence at BMLH, and have developed a new protocol for providing supportive referrals for patients who are being abused by a partner (whether or not this is the reason they came to ER). Patients who answer “yes” to screening questions will be offered follow-up services from a domestic violence advocate located across the street from BMLH, at the Carson Center at Valley Human Services.  For more information, contact Monica Moran at mmoran@pvpc.org.
