South Hadley Town Officials Seek Public Input on Prioritizing Complete Street Projects

03 Oct 2017

Residents and Business Owners have Opportunity to Weigh In on October 18th

SOUTH HADLEY--- There will be a public meeting Wednesday, October 18 at 6 p.m. at the South Hadley Town Hall Auditorium to discuss the prioritization of projects for the South Hadley Complete Streets Prioritization Plan.

This meeting will give residents and business owners an opportunity to learn more about the progress of South Hadley’s Complete Streets Prioritization Plan and participate in the project prioritization process.

A presentation will be given by Pioneer Valley Planning Commission explaining the concepts of “Complete Streets” and how the Prioritization Plan scores local projects for ranking.

The public is invited to this open discussion facilitated by the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission. Working with a list of projects identified in the South Hadley Master Plan, South Hadley Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, Open Space and Recreation Plan, and other recent studies, a preliminary list of complete street improvement projects has been identified.

These projects include sidewalks, bike lanes, traffic calming, crosswalks, pedestrian signals, bus stop improvements, and other related projects.  Eligible projects selected could receive up to $400,000 in funding from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) for construction.
