Hadley Citizens Invited to Discuss Route 47 Corridor

Hadley residents, business owners, and others are invited to discuss visions, objectives, and strategies pertaining to the future of the scenic and historic Route 47 corridor at a workshop Wednesday, September 14, 7:00 p.m. at the Hadley Senior Center, Lower Level, 46 Middle Street.

The Route 47 Corridor is part of the Connecticut River Scenic Byway, which is the only designated National Scenic Byway in Massachusetts. Meeting participants will have a chance to share their own ideas of desired land uses along this corridor. They will also be asked to identify distinctive features, important resources, and types of recreational use, tourism, and land protection that are desired along the corridor.

This event, sponsored by the Hadley Board of Selectmen, is being facilitated by the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission. It is part of a six-month planning process funded by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development’s District Local Technical Assistance Program to prepare a unified vision for the Route 47/Connecticut River Byway corridor in Hadley and South Hadley and to identify and recommend actions that Hadley should examine and pursue to achieve this vision.

A complementary visioning session for South Hadley citizens is scheduled for Wednesday, September 21, 7:00 p.m. at the South Hadley Selectboard Meeting Room.

For meeting information, contact the Hadley Board of Selectmen’s office at (413) 586-0221.
