Public Review Underway for Regional Plans
In accordance with the formal public participation program tied to the Pioneer Valley region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission is holding a 30-day public review period for the 2012 Update to the Regional Transportation Plan for the Pioneer Valley (RTP), the Draft Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2012 Unified Planning Work Program, the Draft FFY 2012-2015 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and Amendments to the 2011 Element of the FFY 2011-2014 TIP.
Copies of the documents are available for public review online at www.pvpc.org and at the Agawam Public Library, Chicopee Main Library, Emily Williston Memorial Library (Easthampton), Forbes Library (Northampton), Holyoke Public Library, Hubbard Memorial Library (Ludlow), Jones Library (Amherst), Library Department (Ware), Monson Free Library, Plainfield Library, Porter Memorial Library (Blandford), South Hadley Public Library, Springfield City Library (220 State Street), West Springfield Public Library, and Westfield Athenaeum Library. Copies are also available by contacting PVPC directly at (413) 781-6045.
Public meetings to solicit public comments on the Draft Regional Transportation Plan have been scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at these locations:
• Tuesday, August 9 at Northampton City Council Chambers, Puchalski Municipal Building, 212 Main Street, Northampton (behind City Hall)
• Thursday, August 18 at Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, 60 Congress Street, 2nd Floor, Springfield
The meeting locations are convenient to public transit and are ADA accessible. Persons in need of specific ADA accommodations, translation, or interpretive services should contact PVPC’s Gary Roux at (413) 781-6045 or gmroux@pvpc.org. Requests must be made at least five days prior to the date of the public hearing.
The RTP outlines the direction of transportation planning and improvements for the Pioneer Valley through the year 2035. The long-range plan concentrates on both existing needs and anticipated future deficiencies in our transportation infrastructure and plays a vital role in the advancement of transportation projects and policies for the region.
