Regional Energy Auditing and Building Efficiency Services Available

The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, using regional services funding provided by the Massachusetts Legislature and administered by the Department of Housing and Community Development, will oversee a multi-community performance contract with an experienced energy service company, or ESCO, to work on behalf of the region’s cities, towns, and school districts.

A performance contract with an ESCO can help communities achieve significant energy efficiency and conservation improvements and cost savings in municipal buildings with no up-front costs required. PVPC will hire an owner’s agent to oversee the process of engaging an ESCO. To date, 14 of 43 cities and towns in the Pioneer Valley region have expressed interest in participating in this regional initiative, including Agawam, Belchertown, Chicopee, Easthampton, East Longmeadow, Hadley, Ludlow, Palmer, Russell, South Hadley, Southampton, Southwick, Westfield, and Williamsburg.

Interested communities and school districts in the region are urged to contact PVPC’s Catherine Miller at (413) 781-6045 or cmiller@pvpc.org to take advantage of this opportunity.
