Hatfield Town Center Summary Report Completed

The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission has completed Hatfield’s Town Center Summary Report, which provides guidance on future redevelopment scenarios of its town center. This planning work was funded under the state’s District Local Technical Assistance Program.

This report is the result of a process initiated by the Hatfield Board of Selectmen, who sought greater direction on using eight vacant or underutilized properties in the town center to contribute to a more vibrant town center. As the town does not have a plan that documents town center vision, goals, or comprehensive information about these properties, municipal officials asked PVPC to facilitate a workshop to obtain public input about what residents would like to see occur at these sites. Officials also asked PVPC to draft fact sheets for each site based upon existing conditions.

This summary report, available at the Hatfield town website at http://www.townofhatfield.org/, synthesizes the fact sheets with comments received at the public workshop, including suggested uses for each of the key properties, and concludes with overarching recommendations for revitalizing the town center. Town officials plan to use this report as the basis for drafting RFPs for the redevelopment of town-owned land in the town center in the future.
