Hatfield Residents Invited to Re-Think Town Center
Citizens of Hatfield are invited to “join the conversation—contribute ideas for a realistic and sustainable town center” at a workshop Wednesday, September 15, 7:00 p.m. at Smith Academy, 34 School Street.
The workshop is for Hatfield residents, town center business owners, and others who care about the future of Hatfield’s town center, the reuse of two vacant former school buildings and an abandoned bridge, and civic and recreational improvements. Workshop participants will have a chance to explore their own ideas of how to re-think and revitalize Hatfield’s town center. Juice, cookies, and popcorn will be provided.
This event, sponsored by the Hatfield Board of Selectmen and the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, is part of a six-month planning process funded by the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development’s District Local Technical Assistance Program to address vacant buildings and other land use concerns in the town center.
For workshop information, visit Hatfield’s town website at http://www.townofhatfield.org/. The final study will be available on the town’s website in January 2011.
For more information about the planning process, contact Jayne Bernhard-Armington, Pioneer Valley Planning Commission planner, at (413) 781-6045.
