Clean Energy, Smart Growth Plans to be Released
Two major regional plans will be presented at the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission’s next full commission meeting Thursday, October 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Kittredge Center, Holyoke Community College.
The first Pioneer Valley Clean Energy Plan will be voted on by the Commission. If approved, an official release is anticipated in late October.
In addition, Valley Vision II, the update to the region’s smart growth land use plan, will be released in conjunction with a panel discussion by Mike Tautznik, Mayor of Easthampton; Toni Hall, Local Initiative Program Manager of the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD); and Kerry Dietz, Chair of the Springfield Architect and Planning Board. They will be joined by Michael Gove, Esq. and Brad Campbell, Executive Director of the Homebuilders of Western Massachusetts, who serve as co-chairs of the Valley Development Council, a multidisciplinary group that has met quarterly over the last two years to oversee the plan’s update as well as development of the Valley Vision tool kit.
