Public Input Sought on Russell Open Space Plan
The final draft Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) for the town of Russell is being issued for a 45-day public comment period beginning Monday, August 6. Comments are due by Friday, September 14 and should be submitted to Anne Capra, Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, 26 Central Street, West Springfield, MA, 01089 or acapra@pvpc.org.
The OSRP is available for download on the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission’s website at www.pvpc.org. The plan is also available in hard copy for review at Russell Town Hall, 65 Main Street.
The OSRP identifies goals, objectives, and a five-year action plan that reflects Russell’s desires to protect open space, provide a range of recreational opportunities, and address conflicts that have arisen around these land uses. The OSRP is being developed with assistance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission with funding provided by a Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs Smart Growth Technical Assistance Grant.
