PVPC Meeting to Spotlight Healthy Communities, Clean Energy
The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC) will host a special presentation and regional forum on public health issues at its next regular meeting Thursday, April 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Clarion Inn and Conference Center in Northampton.
"Planning for Healthy Communities and Regions" will explain how the built environment affects public health as smart plans and savvy planners, working with local boards of health, make healthy decisions for cities and towns. Special guest presenters will be Donna Salloom, Western Region Community Liaison for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and Cheryl Sbarra, Director of the Tobacco Control and Chronic Disease Prevention Program for the Massachusetts Association for Health Boards.
The PVPC meeting will also feature a presentation on the final draft version of the new Pioneer Valley Clean Energy Plan, which sets goals for reducing energy demands, implementing clean energy sources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and creating jobs in the clean energy sector in the region.
