Did You Know? Our region is home to a growing world-class bike trail along the historic Farmington Canal that will eventually cover approximately 80 miles connecting New Haven, Connecticut to Northampton. In our region, Southwick has completed 6.4 miles from the Connecticut state line to Westfield. Westfield’s section of about 3.2 miles has been approved by MassDOT, including nine bridges that will comprise one of the very few elevated trails in the country. Easthampton and Northampton have recently completed their portions of the trail.

Green Tip: Plan a bike ride and check out this amazing regional resource. You can ride 27 contiguous miles from Southwick’s northern border to Farmington, Connecticut. There is a parking lot and entrance to bike trail in Southwick at Miller Road (see map at southwickma.org). For more information and maps, visit fvgreenway.org and farmingtoncanal.org. Also, don’t forget about Bay State Bike Week this month. All events are posted at baystatebikeweek.org.
